A Quick (and Delicious) Stop at Yayaka, Dickens Yard

A Quick (and Delicious) Stop at Yayaka, Dickens Yard

If you’re looking for somewhere delicious to eat in Ealing this weekend, let me point you in the direction of Yayaka in Dickens Yard - a warm, welcoming Greek spot that’s perfect for sharing plates and relaxed dining.

We popped in recently for a quick meal, slightly time-poor thanks to childcare logistics, so instead of mains we decided to order a selection of starters. It turned out to be the best decision - a table full of small plates meant we could try a bit of everything, and every dish brought big, bold Mediterranean flavours.

First up was the calamari with ouzo mayonnaise and feta - light, crispy and beautifully seasoned, with the ouzo mayo adding a subtle aniseed twist that lifted the whole dish.

The halloumi was a standout: salty, golden slices paired with a smoky zaalouk sauce, olive crumble and walnuts for crunch. Sweet, savoury and deeply comforting all at once.

We also loved the spanakorizo croquettes, packed with spinach, feta, herbs and spring onion. Crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside, they tasted fresh and homemade - the kind of plate you wish you didn’t have to share.

And then there was Yayaka’s homemade pie, wrapped in delicate filo pastry and filled with pumpkin, courgette and cheese, finished with sesame and a drizzle of chilli honey. Sweet, savoury and just a little spicy - absolute perfection.

Despite being full, we couldn’t resist dessert (purely for research purposes, of course).

Yaya Sofia’s Ekmek was a beautiful finale: syrup-soaked ekmek kadayıf layered with homemade bergamot spoon sweet, pistachio and lemon. Light yet indulgent, fragrant and citrusy, it struck that perfect balance between rich and refreshing.

Even on a rushed visit, Yayaka delivered exactly what you want from neighbourhood dining - fresh ingredients, generous flavours and food that’s made for sharing. Next time, we’ll definitely stay longer and linger over a full meal.

If you’re heading to Dickens Yard or planning an Ealing food stop, it’s well worth a visit.
