In Good Company: Manu Nandha

Manu himself is a multidisciplinary artist and a die-hard Southall fan. His Instagram account House of A.E.I.O.U. and his store (which is dedicated to Art & Crafts supplies, Art prints, Books, DIY Homeware, Clothes and Stationery) speaks to his love of the diversity of his environment.

At what stage in your life did you first move to Ealing?
Born and Bred in Southall. It's part of everything I do... and in so many ways has inspired my art and design and driven me towards creating my own creative lifestyle store, right here, in my hometown, Southall.

If you were telling someone about Ealing who had never visited, how would you describe it?
It is a beautiful melting pot of so many cultures, and is so diverse. That's the main reason I love calling it home. The people are what makes this borough such an exciting place to live, work and play!

Do you have a favourite Ealing watering hole?
Duke of Kent. Lovely Garden and just all round lovely vibes!

Where have you had your best Ealing meal?
Madhu's in Southall. It is my favourite place to treat myself and in such a unique spot in the middle of South Road.

Is there a part of Ealing that you find particularly inspirational or where you find peace?
Walpole Park... my Dad studied in Ealing and has so many memories here, and from a young age, it has always been our favourite spot to chill and watch the world go by!

Tell us what you're up to & what's next for you.
I have just launched Southall's first creative lifestyle store, House of A.E.I.O.U. We are passionate about driving expression and giving more access to creative expression in areas like Ealing. We specialise in retailing Art prints, Art and Craft supplies, Books, Contemporary and Sustainable homeware, Gifts and Stationery, as well as some Skateboards too!

I also launched my own clothing line, which is available in our store, the range explores the immigrant experience from my perspective, complex themes portrayed in a light hearted way, that's usually my method!

As we develop our new space in Parkside Yards, I am also excited to be providing Creative direction and Brand Strategy to clients I work with in Ealing, and continuing our ethos of driving creativity in our borough!
